Kafra Corporation: your first friend in town
The uniformed women at the Kafra counter stand in almost every city and village of Midgard. They are not just decoration: they offer a core set of services that make travelling the world far easier. Walk up and click the Kafra NPC to open the service menu.
- Save respawn point — sets your respawn location. After dying or logging out you return here instead of the starting map. This is the single most important service for a beginner.
- Storage — a personal warehouse of 600 slots, shared across all characters on your account. Dump spare loot there to avoid being overweight.
- Teleport — fast paid travel to nearby towns and popular maps without walking.
- Cart rent — rents a cart for merchant classes (Merchant and its branches) once the relevant skill is learned.
Saving your respawn point is usually free, while teleport costs a small amount of zeny depending on distance — roughly from 60 to a few hundred zeny per trip. Before expensive field runs, save first and offload spare items into storage.
Airship: the ring route between continents
The Airship is high-speed transport linking the large cities of Schwartzwald and Arunafeltz. It travels a loop and stops at the hub cities: Izlude, Juno, Lighthalzen, Einbroch, Hugel and Rachel. It is the most convenient way to cross half the world in a few minutes.
- Board the inner ring (Juno → Lighthalzen → Einbroch → Hugel and back) from the airport platforms in those cities.
- A separate flight links Izlude with Juno — this is your bridge from the main Rune-Midgarts continent into Schwartzwald.
- A ticket costs a fixed amount of zeny per flight; buy it from the clerk on the platform before boarding.
To board, head up to the airport (usually in the upper part of the city), talk to the ticket NPC, buy your ticket and stand on the waiting platform. When the airship arrives, step inside and it will carry you to the next stops.
Warp NPCs and the Free Warp girl
Besides Kafra there are dedicated warp NPCs that instantly move you to specific points. Some towns host a Free Warp girl who sends you for free to popular starting areas or neighbouring fields, which is handy for newcomers short on zeny.
- Warp NPCs usually offer a fixed set of destinations and a short selection menu.
- Event warps from Cool Event Corp and other event NPCs appear during holidays and open access to temporary instances, festive maps or bonus zones.
- Watch the server announcements: during events these warps are often the only entrance to special content.
Warp NPCs do not replace Kafra teleport, but they complement it wherever you need an instant and often free jump.
Personal transport: Butterfly Wing, Fly Wing and Teleport
Sometimes you must move with no NPC nearby. For that there are personal transport items and skills worth keeping in your inventory at all times.
- Butterfly Wing — instantly returns you to your saved respawn point (the one you set at Kafra). It is essential for a quick escape from a dangerous field or dungeon.
- Fly Wing — teleports you a short random distance within the current map. Useful to shake off monsters or quickly scout a location.
- Teleport (Acolyte/Priest skill) — the same effect as Fly Wing but without consuming an item: for a small amount of SP your character jumps randomly across the map or returns to the save point.
Always keep a stack of Butterfly Wing and Fly Wing on hand: they save your life when HP drops and the exit is far away.
Tips for beginners
The transport network becomes second nature within your first hours of play. A few simple rules will save you time, zeny and nerves.
- When entering a new town, save at Kafra first — that way you won't lose progress after dying.
- Before heading into the field, offload spare loot into storage to stay under the weight limit.
- For long journeys between continents choose the Airship — it is faster than walking through dangerous fields.
- Always carry a few Butterfly Wing to return to town and a few Fly Wing to flee from mobs.
- If a town has a Free Warp girl, use her to save zeny on teleporting.
Once you master Kafra, airships and warps, you'll move freely across all of Midgard and spend more time levelling than travelling.
